Pink and Red Rooms, An Ode to St. Valentine.

Pink and Red Rooms, An Ode to St. Valentine.

The entire month of February is consumed with Pink, Red, and White tokens of affection in the form of hearts and flowers (and chocolate if yer lucky). Many of us would consider a touch of pink or red in a room, but never  both. Perhaps we might ask ourselves, “Would the room be screaming Valentines day year round? Would it look too juvenile- like Feb 14th gift wrapping, or a big lavish bouquet of love? How am I gonna convince HIM to put pink in a room?” Well, I’ve asked myself these questions and decided tokens of love year round would actually be good karma in a room! Plus, its more about the balance, texture, focal points, and other furnishings in a room that will create a pink/red oasis devoid of the Valentines Cheese. From small home accents to walls and floors, then onto structural changes… pink and red can be a beautiful combination in any room on ANY scale.

Challenge: pick one concept or one item from the photos below that you love in pink/red. See how you can incorporate this into your home.

I’ve picked some of my favorite photos in various hues of pink and red that inspire me  and will hopefully lead your next room in the direction of LOVE. Or maybe just a throw pillow?

Happy Hearts day!

  7. I really like pink and red together, even though it is Valentine’s Day-ish, maybe one could avoid the association by avoiding any thing heart shaped in the over-all decor. and throwing in some patterns (cow-hide rug in tan?) sophisticated elements (edgy sculpture), not making it too frothy. That way you could have a year round red and pink room. :) PS-Schmoor i sound like such an amatuer next to you!! LOL
